FAREWELL TO OUR SUMMER INTERN
With summer’s end we bid a fond farewell to our Intern Kyle Spittle. He will be returning to Philadelphia to continue his studies in Industrial Design at Jefferson University. Over the course of the summer Kyle further developed his skills in CAD and Solid Works while also exploring techniques in fabrication such as molding and casting. His tireless efforts made a substantive contribution in service of both client and in house projects.
Before working with Hohman Design, Kyle gained early experience as a maker with his costuming endeavor, Vulcan Armory Props. Kyle has researched and created suits of replica armor from narratives in the popular culture. Here you see a flight suit he fabricated based on the video game Titanfall. We will be talking to Kyle, and taking a closer look at his personal creations, on our upcoming YouTube channel.
HOHMAN DESIGN IS MOVING
Richmond, VA, Friday May 26th, 2017
Hohman Design announces plans to relocate its business to 3425-B W. Leigh Street. The new studio-office and prototyping facility is scheduled to be ready this July and is located next door to the design firm’s previous address.
After six years of expansion, Hohman Design is consolidating its facilities from a large-scale fabrication shop to a clean environment prototyping space to better serve both client projects and in-house product development.
The new 2000 sq. ft. studio is part of the historic renovation of the entire 3400 block of W. Leigh St. in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood of Virginia’s capitol city. “This neighborhood has become a hotbed of creative and cultural entrepreneurs,” said Studio Principle Tom Hohman. “We’re glad to stay right here, walking distance from our friends in architecture, design, print making, and more - not to mention the dizzying array of craft food and beverage spots. This is a great place to entertain, build community and stay inspired.”

SHEPARD FAIREY DESIGNS CURRENT LOGO
We are pleased to announce that Shepard Fairey has just unveiled his logo for the CURRENT Art Fair. Hohman Design is hosting the inaugural fair this October, here at our studio warehouse in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood of Richmond Virginia. We are just blocks away from the landmark radio-tower on Broad Street that served as an inspiration to @obeygiant as he designed the logo for the upcoming event. The brand successfully combines the unique industrial-deco flavor of the area with some of Fairey’s signature take on retro-WPA iconography.
